Healing cannot happen when our body is in the stress zone, and one of the things that keep us in the stress zone is the chemicals in our food.

In order to begin healing, we must begin to SHIFT our body out of the stress zone into the healing zone.

We do this by reducing and eliminating the three types of stress: chemical, emotional, and physical.

 So let’s look at the chemicals in our food and how these could be preventing you from healing. 

In food, chemicals, like additives and preservatives, are used to prolong shelf life. These improve flavour and increase profit.

We only need to look at the labels of most foods in supermarkets and convenience stores to see long lists of additives and numbers.

Cured sandwich meats are treated with nitrates. This gives them colour, prevent bacterial growth and prolong shelf-life.

Many popular foods and beverages contain more chemicals than actual food.

For instance, low levels of pesticide residue can remain on our fruits, vegetables, grains, and honey. Veterinary drug residues can be detected in animal meat. Larger fish, such as tuna, king mackerel, marlin, shark, swordfish, and orange roughy, also contain high levels of mercury.

And with chemicals and plastics poisoning our waterways, it’s only a matter of time before the smaller fish contain some level of toxins as well.

So, how can we avoid these chemical stressors?

Fresh is always best!

Choose products that are either organic or soaked and cleaned with apple cider vinegar.

Make sure that your food is derived from nature with minimal human intervention.

In addition to that, wash fresh fruits and vegetables before preparing and eating them.

Opt for organic or biodynamic fruits and vegetables if you can afford to, or grow your own.

Also, choose animal proteins that have had the lowest stress and exposure to toxins as possible in their environment. This means grass-fed cattle, free-range poultry, and white fish from reputable suppliers are best.

Choose Safer Kitchen Equipment

The equipment we use to prepare, consume and heat food is also relevant.

Microwaves can alter the molecular structure of the food. But it also can cause toxins to leak into the food when heated in plastic (including frozen food containers).

Also, certain non-stick coatings can also off-gas at high temperatures.

Therefore, it is important that you always do your research.

Though it may be difficult to completely eliminate ALL chemicals from what we choose to eat these days, due to the way food is produced, we can reduce the harm of what chemicals we consume by choosing as much chemical-free food as possible.

This will help our body heal and recover, and prevent further disease and illness.

We must do our best if we truly wish to heal!
